Transformation 2019 // The scent of god
Transform 2019! What a gathering! Last week we saw nearly 150 young people from across India, Dubai and the UK gather together on Mira Road, Mumbai to spend three and a half days before God and it was staggering.
Together we enjoyed amazing seminars and preaches that cut right to the heart of the young people, worship that was absolutely heavenly, games, skits, quizzes and a whole lot of fun. We saw young people from different churches and regions form friendships and enjoy one another’s company and more importantly, soak in God’s presence as he began to work in their hearts.
The theme for this year was “The S(c)ent of God” and was inspired by the verse 2 Corinthians 2: 14 –16:
“Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things?”
“The S(c)ent of God” is spelled as such for two reasons:-
- We are the Scent of God in a world invaded with the stench of separation from God
and
- We are the Sent of God has sent us out into the world to spread his Good News to everyone & bring them into Union with Him.
Our Goal therefore was two-fold: to stir up a hunger for the lost in the hearts of people and to instil a sense of identity and purpose which will root our young people in who they are as the ‘fragrance’ of Christ and we definitely saw that come through in everything we did.
The Prayer Meetings
At 7 am each morning we’d witness a hall full of people at Transform interceding for their cities, churches and nations. It was such a joy to see so many young people being committed to prayer. We saw people operating in their prophetic giftings by bringing words of encouragement, people crying out to God from a place of evident intimacy and love for God. To watch so many young men and women with a clear passion for God was absolutely moving.
The Worship
Seeing new young worship leaders step up and lead so brilliantly with such sensitivity and depth was quite remarkable. It was quite evident that God has been moving powerfully in this generation. The quality of worship was beyond our wildest expectations. God’s presence was so thick and tangible in each session and we just relished soaking in his love. We believe many people received deliverance and inner healing through the
worship and have been set free from any bondages. There was definitely a fire set in our hearts over the course of the gathering and has left many with a lasting impact. We are so excited to see the gift of worship being unlocked and coming through in this generation and cannot wait for what God will do in time to come.
The Preaches
To say we’ve not had bolder preaching at a gathering like this would be an understatement.
There were moments during the session where no one dared to move so they would not miss a word. What came through loud and clear is that the Word really cut right into the hearts of people and brought deliverance and freedom. The talks covered a diverse range of topics right from developing intimacy with God to operating in the prophetic and seeing giftings unlocked in people.
We also used this opportunity to gather the guys and girls in separate seminars to talk through some things that are really key for men and women in this day and age. This was so powerful in so many ways – the openness and vulnerability that came through in these sessions really broke ground in the shame-based culture we live in.
The entertainment
Lastly, to say we had fun is a complete understatement. We had a BLAST! We might have had our faces covered in flour, been smothered in vaseline and found jam in our hair, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had 2 days of games which were brilliantly organised, quiz sessions that brought out the competitive spirits and discovered some hidden talents through the team skits. Yes, we also rolled around in muck, but in a nation where so many children would have been
prevented from playing in dirt and getting themselves messy, it felt like a restoration of childhood pleasures that many never had. It was by far the most fun-filled gathering we’ve had yet.
Overall, we can say with great confidence that Transform 2019 was a massive success. People left the venue deeply touched and impacted, built great cross-ethnic friendships and had an absolute blast. It was fabulous! Until the next time…
